Homemade Masala Chai (Dairy-Free and Sugar-Free)

A cozy blend of aromatic spices and creamy oat milk, with a hint maple and vanilla, this homemade masala chai will soothe your soul and nourish your gut. The perfect warm, and comforting drink for a chilly, fall or winter day.

Ingredients
  

  • 1-2 cups oat milk
  • 1 black tea bag
  • 5 whole cloves
  • 8 cardamom pods
  • 10 peppercorns
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 star anise
  • 5-6 slices of ginger root fresh or dried
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions
 

  • Add all ingredients to a small saucepan with 2 cups of water and bring to a low boil over medium heat.
  • Simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow to spices to infuse.
  • Strain liquid through a sieve and discard spices.
  • Enjoy as a hot drink or pour over ice. Store in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to a week.
