The Best Crispy Baked Tofu

Oven baked tofu that's so crispy, flavorful and satisfying that it will sway even the most stubborn of tofu haters. Use this recipe as a base and add whatever flavors and seasonings you love to make it your own. However you choose to enjoy it, I can guarantee you'll be coming back for more.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 block super firm tofu or pressed extra firm tofu (see notes)
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tsp neutral oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 425°F.
  • Tear tofu into roughly 1 inch chunks and add to a medium bowl.
  • Add oil, seasonings, and corn starch and toss until tofu pieces are evenly coated.
  • Lay in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, making sure none of the tofu pieces are touching.
  • Bake on the top rack of the oven for 30 minutes, flipping the tofu halfway through.

Notes

1 block of tofu will be somewhere between 10-16 oz. depending on what type and brand you're purchasing. 
Super firm tofu is the most pressed with the least amount of moisture. Extra firm tofu can also be used for this recipe, but it needs to be pressed to remove as much remaining liquid as possible. 
Flavor variations:
For stir frys or Asian-style recipes: Add 1 tbsp soy sauce along with other ingredients listed.
For BBQ tofu: Add 1 tbsp BBQ sauce along with other ingredients listed.
